Timing across heats, stations, divisions and pairs, with live results, for a format the big platforms overlook.

Barefoot times hybrid, functional fitness and obstacle events across Australia and New Zealand, handling heats, stations, divisions and pairs, with live results, for a fast-growing format most timers treat as an afterthought.

Hybrid fitness doesn’t time like a road race and never has. Events run in timed heats, athletes move through a sequence of stations against the clock, divisions and pairs run alongside each other, and the interesting data is the station split, not just a finish time. The incumbent timing world was built for runners crossing a line, so hybrid organisers get tools that fight the format or manual timing that can’t keep up with a fast heat. It’s the fastest-growing corner of the market and the worst served, which is exactly why a timing partner that understands heats and stations stands out.
Heats, stations and pairs
Timing built for heats, stations, divisions and pairs, not a finish-line clock.
Live leaderboards and splits
Station splits and live leaderboards that suit how hybrid is watched and raced.
Hybrid is our priority
A partner that treats hybrid fitness as a priority when others overlook it.
Entries flow into heats
One system with registration, so heats and divisions flow from entries.
Hyrox-style, functional fitness and obstacle event operators.
Events run in heats with stations, divisions and pairs.
Operators tired of bending running-timing tools to fit their format.
Built for heats and stations
Time heats and station splits the way hybrid events run, not as a single finish time.
Live leaderboards
Live results and leaderboards that match how hybrid is watched and raced.
Divisions and pairs
Handle divisions and pairs cleanly within and across heats.
A partner that prioritises hybrid
Support from a team that treats the format seriously, when others overlook the format entirely.
Registration and timing, connected
Barefoot is registration and timing in one. Run timing on its own, or take entries with Barefoot too and your heats, divisions and entrant data flow straight into timing with nothing re-keyed. Connect it to Hybrid Fitness Registration whenever you want.
The live leaderboard is the show
Hybrid is made to be watched, and a live leaderboard turns heats into a spectacle for the crowd while carrying sponsor branding front and centre. Timing here is entertainment and a sponsor asset, not just a result.

Hybrid fitness events are timed with a chip worn on the ankle or attached to the bib. It records a start time, a time at each run and each workout station, and a finish time. Because athletes start in waves rather than one mass start, every result is a net time measured from that athlete’s own start. The output is a total time plus a split for every run and every station.
Not always. For a single heat, a stopwatch, a spreadsheet and two focused volunteers will produce accurate results. Chip timing earns its place once you’re running back-to-back heats, doubles and relay divisions, or promising a split for every station. At that point manual timing needs a person on every lane, and a missed click can’t be recovered after the athlete has gone.
Yes. Hybrid fitness events are almost always indoors, so the setup is built around mats and readers at the start, the finish and the station entries rather than a long outdoor course. The usual constraints are floor space, athlete flow and where cables can safely run, not the technology. Barefoot Lite is light enough to deploy inside a single-room gym, and Barefoot RFID scales to full arena events.
Each athlete’s clock starts when they cross the start mat in their own wave, so results are net times and stay comparable no matter which heat someone raced in. Overall placings are finalised once the last heat has finished. Wave starts are standard at every scale of the format — HYROX Sydney ran more than 28,000 participants across five days of waves in July 2026.
Yes. Each run and each workout station is recorded as its own split, so an athlete finishes with a total time and a breakdown showing exactly where the time went. Split data is the main reason people pay to enter a timed hybrid event instead of doing the same workout in a class. It’s also the result they screenshot and share afterwards.
