Timing is the part of an event with no margin for error. It happens once, in real conditions, and there is no re-run, so a dropped read or a crashed results system is a problem you can’t fix afterwards. The market makes it harder: registration platforms don’t time, and timing contractors don’t do registration, so organisers juggle two vendors whose data doesn’t line up and who blame each other when something breaks. And professional timing is often out of reach for remote or smaller events, because sending a crew costs travel, flights and accommodation. Barefoot was built to fix all three: one accountable team, proven hardware, and a self-service option for the events others can’t reach.
Any event, any size
A solution to fit any event: tags on shoes or chips in bibs, crew on site or self-service, from 100 to 50,000 participants.
Proven at 50,000 participants
100% is the only option. Barefoot RFID runs on trusted European-engineered hardware, proven at events up to 50,000 participants.
Run it yourself
Timing you can run yourself. Barefoot Lite is lightweight, self-deployable, reusable-tag timing with live tracking that no competitor in the region offers.
One Team, One System
One accountable team, because registration and timing share one system, so there’s no second vendor to chase and no data to re-key.
Results worth sponsoring
Live results and real-time tracking that friends and family can follow from anywhere, with sponsor branding across the tracking and results so your timing becomes something you can sell to partners.
Organisers of running, trail, triathlon, cycling and hybrid events across AU and NZ.
From a weekly fun run to a 50,000-person race, and from a metro course to a remote trail.
You want timing that’s reliable, local and either fully run for you or deployable yourself.
Timing options to fit your event
Every event is different, so timing shouldn’t be one-size. Choose the tags, the service level and the scale that suit you, and we build the setup around your event.
Tags on shoes or chips in bibs
Time with reusable tags laced to the shoe, or disposable chips built into the bib, whichever suits your event, budget and sustainability goals.
Crew on site, remote support, or self-service
Have our experienced crew run timing on the day, have us support you remotely, or deploy Barefoot Lite yourself, the self-service timing no competitor offers.
Any scale, 100 to 50,000
The same platform times a 100-person community fun run and a 50,000-participant city race, on European-engineered hardware proven at that scale.
Live results, one system, local crew
Instant results and live tracking for athletes and spectators, with entrant data flowing straight from registration so nothing is re-keyed, run by a local crew with 75-plus years of combined experience. Reg lives on the Race Registration Software pages.
An event that feels bigger — live tracking and engagement
Timing isn’t just a result, it’s an experience. Friends and family follow their runner live from anywhere, spectators track the field in real time, and athletes get instant, shareable results the moment they cross. It makes a small event feel like a big one, and keeps people coming back.
Sponsor-ready branding and placement
Your live tracking, results pages and finish-line screens are prime real estate. Barefoot can carry sponsor branding and placements across the tracking, results and live feeds, so your timing does double duty as something you can package and sell to partners.
Registration and timing, connected
Barefoot is registration and timing in one. Run timing on its own, or take entries with Barefoot too and your entrant data flows straight into timing with nothing re-keyed and one team accountable. Connect it to Race Registration Software whenever you want.
Let's connect and see how Barefoot Sport simplifies registrations and maximises participant experience.

Yes. Registration and timing share one system, so entrant data flows straight into results with no re-keying and one accountable team.
A race timing system records each participant’s time automatically using RFID chips and readers instead of stopwatches. Every entrant wears a chip on their bib, shoe or ankle. Antennas at the start, finish and any split points detect the chip and record a timestamp against that bib number. Timing software matches those reads to the entry data, then publishes results, splits and placings.
Most Australian and New Zealand timing providers quote per event rather than publish a price list, so the figure depends on your setup. Five things drive it: participant numbers, how many timing points the course needs, whether tags are disposable or reusable, travel and accommodation for crew, and how much on-site support you want. Point-to-point and remote courses cost more than a single start-finish line.
No. Nothing obliges you to chip-time a race, and plenty of events are still timed accurately with stopwatches, finish tokens and a spreadsheet. The practical trigger is finish-line density rather than field size. Once finishers start arriving in clusters, or you’re scoring several distances, waves and age categories off one line, manual timing starts producing errors and slow results.
Yes, and it starts to make financial sense once you’re running enough events to spread the equipment cost. Owning a system means an upfront outlay plus tags, the time to learn the software, and someone competent operating it on the day. For one or two events a year, hiring a timer is usually cheaper and lower risk. Organisers running a full calendar often bring timing in-house.
Often, yes. When registration and timing sit on different platforms, entries usually close several days out so the participant file can be exported, cleaned and loaded into the timing software. That costs you the late entries that arrive in the final week. Where registration and timing run on one system, the data is already there, so entries can stay open longer and race-day entries flow straight into results.
Work with people who get the pace, pressure, and precision of endurance events and build platforms that match it.
